The choke transformer is installed at the connection between the traction return and the rail, and is used for conducting the traction current, or is installed in the upper and lower rail circuits to balance the traction current so as not to affect the normal operation of the track circuit.
1. In the ZPW-2000A track circuit section, it is used for equipotential bonding between lines (lateral) to balance the traction current.
2. It is used for the connection between the rail and the grounding wire, the overhead return line or the protection wire to realize the traction backflow.
3. Forming a large traction return path with the adjacent traction substation.
4. With its high frequency shifting impedance, the normal operation of the ZPW-2000A track circuit is guaranteed. 
The function of the choke transformer in the track circuit is to construct the traction current, and at the same time, the power supply transformer and the power receiving end are matched with the choke transformer.
Since the track is not insulated from the earth, part of the traction current flows through the earth and returns to the choke transformer from the grounding grid buried under the traction substation. At the same time, the rail and the suction line are not directly connected, but a choke transformer is added at the insulation section of the track circuit, and the two are firmly connected with the terminal and the neutral point of the transformer, so that the traction current loop and the track signal loop are respectively turned on. Loops, do not interfere with each other.
